It is that time again, so here is our pick of the headlines affecting early years childcare in Wales from the past few weeks…
While we are on the topic of the sunny sunshine, did you catch the video we shared recently on our Facebook page from BBC news? Let little Leo tell you more, as he explains the best way to keep babies safe in the hot weather – https://www.facebook.com/walesppa/posts/1829991520417647

The government is planning new rules to tackle childhood obesity by targeting supermarkets, junk food adverts and restaurant menus.
As part of this new initiative, the government want sale of sweets and fatty snacks to be banned at checkouts, shop entrances and in buy-one-get-one-free deals. They would also like fruit to be cheaper and is also considering the introduction of new rules on advertising unhealthy food to children on TV and online – which could include a pre-9pm ban.

The Welsh Government has recently unveiled new guidance on food and nutrition as part of a range of initiatives to prevent obesity in Wales.
The new standards apply to the provision of meals, snacks and drinks and include accompanying menus and recipes. They are aimed at settings caring for children aged between one and 12, but also aim to increase parental awareness of what settings can offer children.
