Your early years news, features and guides round up: 19th – 1st June 2018

Here is our pick of the headlines affecting early years childcare in Wales from the past few weeks…

BBC News

Did you get a chance to catch up on The Toddlers Who Took on Dementia, which aired on BBC One Wales Wednesday 23rd May?

The programme involved patients at a day-care centre in Colwyn Bay spending three days with toddlers to test the potential for restoring memory.

Cake-making, singing and exercise were among some of the group activities that took place.

If you would like to catch up, The Toddlers Who Took on Dementia is available on the BBC iPlayer for limited time only. Alternatively, click here for the full article.

Health and Social Care, and Childcare qualifications in Wales

From September 2019 City & Guilds/WJEC will be the sole provider of a new suite of fundable health and social care, and childcare qualifications in Wales.

Qualifications Wales is leading a process to streamline skills and raise standards across the health and social care, and childcare sectors. This new approach includes the development of a new suite of qualifications covering levels 1 – 5, and features clear progression routes for learners to both employment and further study.

Please follow link here to two online consultations, where you can have your say on the proposed content for the Level 2 and Level 3 children’s care, play, learning and development qualifications, for both the practice and theory units.
